The Riva Caribe 42 is a classic motoryacht from the Riva shipyard, known for marking the brand’s transition to fiberglass construction while maintaining the elegance and build quality typical of Sarnico.
Launched onto the market at the beginning of the 1980s (examples can be found from 1980 onward), the Caribe 42 was designed by Giorgio Barilani and stands out as a sport cruiser with a flybridge. With an overall length of approximately 12 meters, it offers a functional design and lines that are still considered contemporary today.
Conceived for safe, open-sea cruising, it usually features an open-space layout below deck and a cockpit without dividing bulkheads, thereby optimizing space and liveability. The performance is remarkable for its era and type: with the period engine options, such as two sterndrive engines, it can reach cruising speeds between 18 and 26 knots, exceeding 30 knots at maximum speed.
Although it is not a wooden “one-off”, the Caribe 42′ is considered a great fiberglass classic, the value of which can appreciate thanks to its rarity, the brand, and the project’s contemporary relevance, making it a vessel highly appreciated by modern pleasure boaters, even after conservative restorations.
