Ventotene 2010: The Timeless Charm of the Scafi D’aMare

In the heart of summer 2010, the enchanting island of Ventotene hosted a nautical event of great resonance and charm: “Scafi D’aMare 2010 – The Vintage Motor Yacht and Motorsailer Gathering.” Held from July 8th to 10th, the event represented a unique opportunity to admire some of the most beautiful “old glories” of yachting, attracting enthusiasts and spectators to the splendid setting of the Pontine archipelago.

The event was promoted and organized by ASDEC (Associazione Scafi D’Epoca E Classici), specifically by the Central-South Sports Section, directed by Elio Santini Turano. The goal was not only to bring together lovers of vintage and classic vessels—those built respecting traditional techniques—but also to raise awareness about the cultural importance of protecting the historical nautical heritage, while simultaneously offering a strong stimulus for local tourism and pleasure boating, in partnership with entities such as the Municipality of Ventotene, the Latina Chamber of Commerce, and Consormare del Golfo. Furthermore, the initiative received prestigious patronage, including that of the Ministry of Youth and the General Command of the Guardia di Finanza (Customs and Finance Police), which participated with the Corps’ historical naval units.

The gathering culminated on Saturday, July 10th, with the much-anticipated Regularity Race. Coordinated by Renato Costi, the competition took place in the breathtaking setting of the sea off the island, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Numerous vessels took part in the test of skill and precision, offering a thrilling visual spectacle. The final ranking rewarded the mastery and regularity of the participants, with the motor yacht “Lucifera” owned by Carlo Allegretti triumphing in first place—a splendid example of how historical charm can be combined with impeccable navigation performance.

“Scafi D’aMare 2010” was not simply a gathering; it was a moment of celebration for the art of shipbuilding, an opportunity for owners to exchange maritime experiences, and a stage for the valorization of Italian maritime heritage.
