- Competition: boats designed to race in a specific category
- Pleasure: example runabouts (OB - IB/OB - IB), motor yachts, day cruisers, etc.
- Workboat: example launches, gozzi, water taxis, ferries, unmodified tugboats, etc.
(2) IF SAILING, choose which of the following categories your vessel falls under
- Racing (even if equipped with a cabin): examples 5.50 International Rule (5.5mR), Dinghy 12', Star, Dragon, RORC Class, etc.
- Pleasure: examples: Tofinou, Folk Boat, Piviere, Alpa 9.50, Arpège, etc. (This category includes, in addition to motorsailers, any boats originally designed for racing that were subsequently modified and/or equipped with a cabin)
- Workboat: examples: Venetian Topi and Sampierote, Latin-rigged Gozzi, Sardinian Spagnolette, Lucie Lariane, etc.
(3) Classic Material(s): such as wood (including plywood), iron, aluminum, ferro-cement, etc. Synthetic
Material(s): fiberglass, ABS, epoxy resins, rubberized fabric, etc.
(4) Model: refers to the model or class of belonging, especially for series-built vessels.
(5) Registration / Identification: complete with registration number and/or sail number if registered, and/or racing numbers if for competition, or hull/keel number if series-built.
(6) Drive System / Transmission, examples: outboard, inboard/outboard (stern drive), shaft drive, V-drive, water jet, etc.
